  • Scott Kuehne and John Suarez have over 47 years of collective professional experience, 41 of those years as licensed architects.
  • John and Scott have worked together since 1992.
  • SKA began as a partnership in February of 1997.
  • Both Scott and John are licensed architects in the state of California. Scott is also licensed in Wisconsin and is certified with the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) allowing him to be licensed in any state.
  • SKA is an intentionally small office to allow the partners to be very hands-on with all projects.  The partners, John and Scott, lead all projects as not only the principle client contact throughout the project but, together with the client, as the primary idea generating force on each project.
  • SKA is a client-focused firm which values and respects the important relationships that exist between the Owner-Architect and the Owner-Contractor.  We take very seriously the responsibility of our experienced, trained set of eyes to fairly represent the Owner’s interests throughout all phases of the project.
  • While it is our firm philosophy to have our staff exposed to all phases of each project, our two staff members support the partners by performing various tasks at lower hourly rates to bring maximum value to our clients.
  • SKA has completed over 25 million dollars of construction value on projects greater than 100 miles from San Francisco.
  • SKA performs a range of architectural services on residential, commercial, and university projects.  Residential projects typically range in size from 1,000 square foot additions and remodels to 15,000 square foot residences.  Cost of construction can range from $100,000 to multi-million dollar projects.  However, we will often take on projects as small as a five foot by seven foot bath remodel and pursue it with as much passion and excitement as our larger projects. Our commercial and university work ranges in size from 10,000 to 120,000 square feet with construction values up to $18 million.  This range of projects is an important principle of our practice and brings a level of sophistication and organization to our residential scale projects which many of our competitors do not possess.
  • In addition to customary general liability coverage, SKA carries an errors and omissions insurance policy. (SKA, the partners nor the associates has ever had a claim against them.)
